Christianity? You have a choice, man is not a robot man has a choice: either to love and serve the maker OR hate and reject him. Jesus spoke: "he who is not with me is against me" so you can't be neutral in this. This is the most important thing in your life.
What is a Christian? A Christian is a follower of Christ. A Christian is someone who has all their sins forgiven, they aren't necessarily good people just forgiven. A Christian is someone who has realized that Jesus is the Lord of their life, and they know that he died on a cross for them. The crucifixion was awful. After he was taken back and forth between Roman rulers, he was then sentenced crucifixion because the people wanted it, they screamed it, he then was whipped, beaten, and had a crown of thorns forced on his head. He then had to carry the huge arm bar until he fell and a man helped. Then he was layed down, had his hands tied and nailed, then a rope threw over a tree and he was hoisted up, pull after pull until satisfied, then the bar was nailed in and his feet nailed. The excruciating agony was for our sins, this is God who done this, a Christian can see that. They try and live a better life, like Jesus, helping people and preaching the Gospel of Good News and salvation, and they share in Eternal life and joy.
Why? We all have a need inside us, one which we try to satisfy with money, friends, alcohol, relationships, but none of them suffice. Jesus is able to fill that gap, in the book of John chapter 4 verses 13-14 he says that if you drink some normal water, in time you will become thirsty again; but he can provide a different water. This water he says will become a spring inside, providing life-giving water and eternal. Becoming a Christian is no quick fix solution to all your problems, it is simply allowing someone else, the Creator of the Universe to share them. You can throw your worry onto him because he truly cares for you. The Christian life can be difficult at times, but it comes with the assurance of knowing where you've come from and where you are going to. There is a peace beyond human understanding, which melts stress and our daily worries, I invite you to receive that.
How do I become a Christian? You need to take a few moments to consider the gravity of the commitment you are to make. You need to allow the Holy Spirit time to bring to mind anything which is stopping you from sharing a relationship with God. This could be scepticism, hurts, previous beliefs or sin. Remember nothing is too big for God. Asking God into your life, and asking Jesus to cleanse you with his blood and make you a new person, is something to be done with sincerity. I would encourage you to pray a prayer of commitment to God similar to the following, or if you would prefer, come and ask any Christian Union member to pray with you. Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the son of God and died on a cross for me. I am really sorry anything I have done in my life, which has offended you and your name, and has stopped me from having a relationship with you. Please forgive me and start the process of cleansing and changing my life. I ask you to come into my life, help me to follow you and please make me a true Christian. Thank you Lord Jesus.
